Well after we were finally able to close on our new home the real work began. A lot of things were needing to be done and we hoped to do as much as we could to keep the cost down- we knew somethings would have to be done by others but we were quick to get to work on what we could.

Before the work began.....

The bushes around the house had grown so tall that until we cut them back we didn't even realize we had sprinklers back there. Normally we wouldn't have cut them all the way back but since we were having the outside painted we knew this would be the best.

Of course Randy never complains when he has an excuse to buy and try out a new tool!!

Callan was apparently worried that everything would get cut down!!

Randi was being a big helper!

Chase and Callan were having fun seeing how big of a pile they could make.

I wasn't sure we would be able to get all of the clippings onto the trailer but we did- nearly 1000 lbs worth we found out at the dump!!

Onto our next project- scrapping ceilings!! Never again will I ask for popcorn ceilings- it is a lot of work and mess to get them down.

Scrapping wallpaper was another project that for some rooms was not too difficult and for others...

That is all wallpaper on the floor!!

Onto the next project- pulling up carpet!!

The upstairs rooms, hallway, and stairs had carpet that needed to be pulled up and replaced.

The boys work to remove the staples after the carpet was removed.

Another 1000 lbs to take to the dump!!

Randy worked on removing the toilets so he could replace the subfloor. The kids thought it was great to see a bottle in our floor.

I am always amazed at the things my husband knows how to do. Normally seeing a hole in the floor of my new home would scare me- but I knew he would be able to replace it so instead it was pretty neat to watch.

We removed the old flooring in the laundry room to prepare for tile.

The kids spent much time working on picking up broken glass from the porch. Thankfully it kept them busy while other work was going on inside. They were great sports and a lot of help!
More to come soon....
That was A LOT of work. Our weekends seemed to have freed up since you guys moved so I'm glad you are finally getting settled.
